It was supposed to be just another Saturday night out in Southwest Oklahoma City, but it turned into a complete nightmare in a matter of seconds. Inside the bustling Dos Cinco Restaurant and Bar on Southwest 25th Street, music and laughter gave way to sudden, violent chaos. Amid the rising tempers and loud shouting, 20-year-old Adolfo Lopez stepped up to do something remarkable. He did not pick a side or throw a punch. He just wanted everyone to calm down and go home safe.
Witnesses told investigators that as a heated brawl flared up inside the establishment, Adolfo put himself right in the middle of it. He raised both of his hands high in the air, completely unarmed, making it clear to everyone in the room that he meant no harm. He was simply trying to de-escalate the situation and bring some sanity back to a crowd that was quickly losing control.
Tragically, his peaceful gesture was met with unthinkable violence. Police say 23-year-old Mosses Sandoval pulled out a gun and shot the young man where he stood. In a single horrifying moment, Adolfo’s attempt to keep the peace cost him his life. He fell to the ground right there on the floor of the restaurant, becoming a victim of a dispute that was never his to fight.
The gunfire did not stop with Adolfo. Almost immediately after the fatal shot was fired, another person inside the bar pulled out a gun and shot Sandoval, killing him on the spot. Panic erupted across the venue as patrons scrambled for the doors or dove for cover under tables. By the time the smoke cleared, two young men were dead and three other people were left suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene on Southwest 25th Street, where they were met with absolute devastation. Paramedics worked quickly to treat the surviving victims, while officers began taping off the crime scene and gathering evidence. What was meant to be a lively weekend gathering spot had instantly transformed into a major crime scene marked by loss and unanswered questions.
For the community, the loss of Adolfo Lopez hits exceptionally hard. Here was a 20-year-old who saw trouble brewing and chose kindness over conflict, only to lose his life in the process. His death, alongside Sandoval’s, pushed Oklahoma City to a grim milestone, marking the city’s 40th and 41st homicides of the year.
