The sudden loss of James Snyder Jr. has left the tight-knit town of Millerstown completely reeling. He was only 28 years old. He was a young guy with his whole life ahead of him. He was full of energy and known by so many folks in the local area.
It all went down on a quiet Sunday evening around 8:10 p.m. James was out riding his motorcycle along Shermans Valley Road. He was enjoying the clear weekend weather before the regular work week started up again.
As he was traveling eastbound in the 1700 block, things took a tragic turn. James missed a curve in the road. This caused his bike to slide off the pavement and ride right up along a roadside embankment.
The momentum forced the motorcycle back onto the blacktop. This put it directly into the path of oncoming traffic. A driver heading westbound saw the bike coming and tried to swerve out of the way. There just was not enough time or room to avoid the impact.
Both vehicles finally came to a dead stop right there in the westbound lane. Emergency crews rushed to the scene as fast as they could. The injuries were just too severe. James was pronounced dead right at the scene of the crash.
The person operating the second vehicle managed to survive the terrifying collision. Paramedics loaded them up into an ambulance. They transported them to a local hospital for further medical evaluation and treatment.
Now, the whole community is holding onto the good times they shared with James. Friends and family are leaning heavily on each other to get through the heartbreak. They promise that his bright spirit will never be forgotten.
