A quiet Friday morning turned into a nightmare for a small Louisiana community. A horrific car crash took the life of a sixteen-year-old boy. Kent Sanson, a young resident of Deville, died at the scene of the accident before help could save him.
The tragedy unfolded just before dawn in LaSalle Parish. Kent was riding in a vehicle with a group of friends. They were traveling northbound on Hunt Road, driving near the Dewey Wills Wildlife Management Area in Jonesville around 5 a.m.

Suddenly, the ride turned deadly. The driver lost complete control of the vehicle for reasons that are still unclear. The vehicle veered off the roadway and flipped over multiple times in a violent rollover.
The force of the crash was devastating. Because the vehicle rolled so violently, several passengers were thrown out of the cabin onto the ground. Kent sustained fatal injuries from the impact and passed away right there on the road.
State troopers arrived quickly and uncovered a shocking detail. There were seven people inside the vehicle during the wreck. Investigators revealed that not a single person was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Five other passengers survived the crash but did not escape unharmed. They all suffered moderate injuries from the violent wreck. Paramedics rushed them to a local hospital so they could receive urgent medical care.
The young driver also survived with moderate injuries and now faces the music. Police identified him as eighteen-year-old Reese McKenzie of Deville. State Police suspect that McKenzie was driving under the influence and have hit him with multiple charges, including vehicular homicide.
