A simple evening cruise turned into an absolute nightmare on a quiet Texas road. A local rider was just out enjoying the open air when everything changed in the blink of an eye. It is the kind of sudden tragedy that shakes a small, rural community right to its core.
Kenniston Charles Brown was a 48-year-old man who called the small town of Skellytown his home. He was a familiar face in the tight-knit Carson County community. Friends and neighbors are now dealing with the heartbreaking news of his sudden passing.
The whole thing unfolded on a Thursday evening just north of Amarillo. The weather was clear, and the clock was ticking right past 6:00 p.m. Brown was out on his 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle, soaking in the late afternoon Texas air.
He was heading westbound along Farm-to-Market Road 2171. It is a typical rural Texas two-lane highway surrounded by open country and brush. Without warning, a deer stepped directly out onto the roadway right in front of his path.
There was simply no time to react or swerve out of the way. The heavy motorcycle struck the animal at full speed. The violent impact instantly flipped the Kawasaki over onto its side and threw Brown completely off the bike.
Emergency crews rushed out to the scene about a mile west of FM 280. They did everything they could to help, but the injuries were just too severe. Brown was tragically pronounced dead right there on the asphalt.
The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed that Brown was the only person riding the motorcycle. Now, a quiet small town is left mourning a life taken way too soon. State troopers are still looking into the final details of the crash.
