Gabino Carranza was just sitting quietly in his own driveway, catching a peaceful moment before his day got started. He was hanging out inside his parked Dodge Caravan early Thursday morning, completely safe from the world, or so he thought. Then, out of nowhere, an absolute nightmare tore through his quiet morning.
A giant Ford pickup truck barreled right off the highway intersection and slammed directly into his minivan. The impact was massive, shoving the entire vehicle straight into a nearby house. It is the kind of freak accident that makes you realize how fast everything can change in a split second.

First responders rushed to the scene outside the Bridge City home, trying desperately to save him. They got the 67-year-old Carranza out of the crushed minivan and sped him to a local hospital. Sadly, his injuries were just too severe, and he passed away shortly after getting there.
The tight-knit community of Bridge City is completely devastated by the sudden loss. Neighbors knew Carranza as a genuinely hard worker who always had a warm smile or a kind word for everyone on the block. His tragic death has left a massive hole in the lives of his family and friends.
Inside the house where the minivan was pushed, a 61-year-old woman was also caught up in the scary chaos. She suffered injuries from the sudden wall collapse and crash, though thankfully they were not life-threatening. Paramedics took her to the hospital to get checked out.
Meanwhile, the driver of the 2020 Ford pickup truck walked away from the whole thing without a single scratch. Texas Department of Public Safety state troopers later identified him as 69-year-old Michael Heimbach from the nearby town of Orange.
Right now, state troopers are still trying to piece together exactly what went wrong behind the wheel. They know Heimbach drove straight through the intersection of State Highway 87 and State Highway 62 before veering onto the private property, but the investigation is wide open. For Carranza’s loved ones, no amount of answers will bring back the warm, compassionate man they lost way too soon.
