A late-night outing that started with an argument at a local pub took a devastating, fatal turn in the quiet hours of a Sunday morning, leaving family and friends completely heartbroken. Loved ones are now mourning the tragic loss of a man identified as Kross Tha Bridge, whose life was cut painfully short after a confrontation spiraled into a deadly shooting. The sudden violent end to his life has left a massive void for everyone who knew him, leaving his closest circle desperate for real answers and waiting on accountability.
It all started earlier in the evening on June 7 when a heated disagreement broke out between two people inside Mulligan’s Bar along Rivers Avenue. People in the area figured things had cooled off when both individuals eventually left the spot and went their separate ways into the night. But fate had a much darker turn in store just a short while later.
Around 2:20 a.m., one of the guys involved in that earlier bar dispute pulled up to the nearby Circle K gas station at 8700 Rivers Avenue. It wasn’t long before the second guy showed up at the exact same gas station, and just like that, the lingering tension boiled right back over into another direct confrontation out in the parking lot.
That’s when the situation turned completely lethal, but not from the two men directly involved in the fight. Out of nowhere, a third person on the scene—a former North Charleston police officer who had zero connection to the original argument at the pub—drew a handgun. He fired multiple shots directly into the fray, striking Kross Tha Bridge and dropping him right there on the pavement.
North Charleston Police Department officers rushed over to the gas station after getting panicked reports of gunshots echoing through the night. When first responders got to the scene, they found Kross suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and immediately tried to give him emergency, lifesaving medical care right on the ground. Paramedics rushed him off to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment, but despite all the desperate medical efforts, his loved ones later confirmed the heartbreaking news that Kross had passed away from his injuries.
Because the guy who pulled the trigger turned out to be a former cop, local authorities realized right away that they couldn’t handle the case internally. The North Charleston Police Department officially handed the entire file over to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, better known as SLED, to take over as the lead independent investigative agency.
As of right now, law enforcement officials haven’t released the name of the former police officer who pulled the trigger, and SLED agents say the entire investigation remains wide open and active. Meanwhile, a grieving family and a tight-knit community are left trying to make sense of a senseless loss, holding onto each other and waiting for the full truth to finally come to light.
