Friends and family back in Akron are completely heartbroken following a terrible motorcycle crash that claimed the life of 32-year-old Joseph Langham on Friday afternoon.
The tragic incident unfolded around 5:24 p.m. in the quiet rural community of New Lyme Township, located out in Ashtabula County. Joseph was riding his 2023 Yamaha MT-09 motorcycle southbound along State Route 46 when the routine ride turned fatal.
State troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol Ashtabula Post noted that Joseph failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign at the intersection with US Route 6. His motorcycle ended up striking the side of a 2022 Ford F-450 pickup truck traveling westbound.
Emergency medical crews from South Central Ambulance rushed to the scene to assist. First responders worked quickly on Joseph, stabilizing him so he could be airlifted by helicopter to University Hospitals in Cleveland for trauma care.
In a deeply painful turn of events, Joseph succumbed to his injuries right there on the ground before the medical helicopter could take off.
Investigators confirmed that Joseph was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. State troopers also stated that neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to have played any role in the accident.
Now, those who loved Joseph are holding tight to memories of his warmth, kindness, and everyday presence. The entire Akron community continues to mourn a young life cut far too short, sending thoughts and prayers to his grieving family.
