Pacific Sibomana went out for a simple walk with a friend on a Friday evening along the Piscataquog River Trail. The weather was calm, and nothing seemed out of the ordinary as the two spent time together near Douglas Street.
Deciding to cool off, Pacific stepped into the water to go for a swim by himself. What started as a casual jump into the river quickly took a dangerous turn.
Within moments, his friend standing nearby noticed that Pacific was suddenly in deep trouble and struggling to stay afloat. Without hesitating, the friend jumped right into the water to pull him back to the riverbank.
Once on shore, the friend immediately started CPR and fought to save his life while waiting for help to arrive. Emergency crews rushed to the scene around 7:14 PM after getting the call.
First responders quickly took over medical care and transported Pacific to a local hospital right away. Due to the severity of his condition, doctors later transferred him to a regional medical facility for advanced treatment.
Despite everyone working tirelessly to save him, Pacific passed away early Saturday morning on July 25, 2026. Investigators later confirmed that they do not suspect any foul play in his death.
