On a warm July afternoon along Interstate 94 in western Minnesota, a devastating head-on crash took away a young man who was just beginning to make his mark on the world. At only 24 years old, Koleman Lind had the kind of bright, genuine energy that lifted up everyone around him. He was a dedicated mentor, an encouraging friend, and a talent on the basketball court.
News of the terrible three-vehicle collision near Evansville quickly reached the University of Jamestown campus, leaving students and staff heartbroken. Koleman was airlifted to a hospital in St. Cloud following the accident on Sunday afternoon, July 19, 2026. He fought hard for his life, but his injuries were simply too severe.
Around the University of Jamestown, Koleman was far more than just a graduate assistant coach standing on the sidelines. He served as an assistant for the women’s varsity team and led the junior varsity program as head coach. Every single day, he brought passion to practice and poured his heart into helping young athletes grow as players and people.
Raised in Pine City, Minnesota, Koleman always carried a strong love for sports and community. He earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management from the University of Minnesota Morris, where he also played college basketball. He later moved on to Jamestown to work on his master’s degree in leadership, taking another big step toward a promising career in coaching.
State troopers reported that the accident happened in an I-94 construction zone where lanes were funneled into head-to-head traffic. Koleman’s Ford Fusion collided head-on with an oncoming Tesla driven by 73-year-old Harold Ennulat of Woodbury, who tragically died at the scene. Harold’s passenger, 65-year-old Kari Ennulat, suffered life-threatening injuries, while a third car hit the wreckage shortly after.
Teammates and colleagues remember Koleman as a young man who led with humility and kind words. He always had a smile ready and brought positive vibes into the gym every morning. Athletic Director Brian Mistro shared how deeply the loss hits the university family, noting that Koleman was the kind of person who made everyone feel valued.
