London, Kentucky is mourning a heavy loss today after a sudden tragedy claimed the life of 52-year-old local resident Jason Hoskins. Family, friends, and neighbors are trying to process the tragic event that took a beloved community member far too soon on what started as a regular Saturday evening.

The tragedy happened around 6:26 p.m. on East Laurel Road, roughly six miles east of London. Hoskins was pulling out from a business parking lot in his Dodge Durango, heading out into the evening traffic just like anyone else finishing up weekend errands.

As Hoskins maneuvered his vehicle onto the road, his SUV ended up right in the path of an oncoming Ford F250 heading westbound. With virtually no time for either driver to react, the two vehicles collided with tremendous force right on the roadway.

First responders were on the scene within minutes, doing everything they could to assist. Hoskins was rushed by ambulance to St. Joseph Hospital in London, where medical staff fought to save him. Sadly, despite all efforts, he was pronounced deceased from the severe injuries he suffered in the wreck.

Riding in the passenger seat of Hoskins’ Dodge Durango was a 65-year-old London woman who sustained critical injuries during the violent impact. Emergency medical workers called for a helicopter to airlift her directly to a specialized trauma center in Lexington for immediate care.

Inside the Ford F250 were two 18-year-old London residents. Following the collision, both teenagers were taken by private vehicle to a nearby hospital so doctors could evaluate and treat them for possible injuries.

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office immediately took charge of the scene, closing down East Laurel Road to allow emergency teams to work safely. Multiple agencies rushed in to help, including Bush Fire and Rescue, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, the London-Laurel Rescue Squad, Magistrate Bobby Overbey, and the Laurel County Coroner’s Office.

Today, the entire London community is holding Jason’s memory close to their hearts. Those who knew him are remembering the good times, the laughter, and the meaningful impact he made on everyone around him as they lean on one another through this deeply painful loss.
