A 35-year-old man named Anthony Asbell went into a Georgia detention center, but he never got the chance to walk back out alive. It all went down on what seemed like a regular Sunday afternoon.

Right around 2:45 p.m., something went terribly wrong inside the facility. Asbell suddenly looked completely drained and lethargic, which instantly raised red flags for everyone watching him.

The jail staff knew they had to act fast to save him. Guards scrambled to rush Asbell over to the detention center’s medical clinic before things got any worse.

Once he was in the clinic, the medical team went straight to work. They started doing chest compressions and pumping his chest with CPR, praying for a sign of life.

Emergency medical teams rushed to the jail to take over the rescue effort. Sadly, it was just too late, and they had to pronounce the young man dead right there on the scene.

Now, his family is left dealing with a massive heartbreak and looking for real answers. The Sheriff’s Office sent out their deepest condolences to Asbell’s loved ones during this awful time.

Because a man died under the watch of the law, state investigators are stepping in to figure out the truth. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is now running an independent probe, and an autopsy will soon reveal what actually caused his body to give out.
