A dark Friday night turned into a complete nightmare for a local neighborhood. The tight-knit community of Taunton is now dealing with an incredibly heavy loss. People here are completely heartbroken over the sudden death of 26-year-old Selina Mendez. She lost her life in a terrible car accident right before the weekend started.
The whole thing unfolded late Friday night on County Street. It was right around 11:15 p.m. when the peace of the night was broken. Calls started flooding into emergency dispatchers about a severe single-vehicle crash. Police officers and emergency crews rushed out to the area near 266 County Street immediately.
When the first flashing lights arrived, the scene looked rough. A 2001 Honda Accord was sitting with massive damage. The car had gone off the road and smashed directly into a telephone pole. Investigators later confirmed that Selina Mendez was the one behind the wheel during the crash.
First responders did not waste a single second. They jumped right into action to help Selina at the crash site. Paramedics worked quickly to stabilize her before putting her into an ambulance. She was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment.
