A quiet Saturday evening turned into an absolute nightmare for several families in Northern Colorado when a horrific high-speed crash took the lives of three young men. Just after 5:00 p.m. on July 25, 2026, a Chevrolet Tahoe packed with five young adults went out of control on a rural stretch of Weld County Road 80. By the time emergency crews pulled up near Weld County Road 39, the SUV was wrecked, and all five people inside had been thrown from the vehicle.
The loss hits extremely close to home for two tight-knit local towns. Three of the young passengers did not make it through the crash. Suddenly, the SUV veered off the right side of the pavement and plunged into the side ditch. The driver tried to correct course, sending the SUV sweeping back onto the roadway where it spun around, lost all traction, and flipped over multiple times.
The force of the rollover was so intense that every single occupant was ejected from the cabin into the dirt and road. Emergency dispatchers called in a medical helicopter due to the severity of the scene. The 20-year-old driver, who is from Wyoming, was airlifted to a regional hospital in critical condition, where doctors worked around the clock to keep him alive.
